Baby’s Day Out

Today was Krishna Janmashtami, in short: Lord Krishna’s birthday. It is believed that on this day, Baby Krishna comes to every household and steals his favourite freshly churned butter, poha and rich fried snacks which are laid out for him. We draw baby feet leading from the entrance door to the pooja room and offer all his favourite food as neivedyam. I offered him home-made butter, a sweet poha mix of poha, jaggery, freshly grated coconut, a pinch of cardamom and a few drops of ghee. I also made vennai murukkus (butter murukkus) and some fruits for neivedyam. I’m now a sitting duck after hogging on the Prasadam.

Here is the Baby Krishna at my place sitting in his cradle and peeping at all the neivedyam in front of him. You can rock his cradle with that little string you see in the blurred foreground. Cute no?
